Last Week's Brown Bag Sharers

Last Week's Brown Bag Sharers

Dolphin Digest--September 19

My sincere thanks for supporting your child at Curriculum Night. They enjoyed their notes. If you were unable to make it, I sent the handouts home with your child on Friday. I hope you find them useful.
This Monday, their RAH (Reading At Home) folders will be coming home. This is their homework this year...to read for 10 minutes every night Monday-Thursday. Please write down the titles of the books you read together.
Here' s a glimpse of what we've been working on:
     -celebrated "International Dot Day"
-learned how to play the math games; Bunny Hop, Top-It, and Penny Dice
-learning about good habits as readers
-found "just right" reading spots during Reader's Workshop
-began reading many Mo Willems' books and noticed his style as we begin crafting our own stories
-practiced drawing "the pigeon" expressing different emotions
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call 772-5413 ext.143
     or email me at dfennessy@sau16.org.
Thanks for your attention and have a terrific week!

Our First Week

It was a wonderful first week in the Dolphin classroom. We had the opportunity to do many activities that promoted community building and friendship, as well as, practicing first grade routines and expectations.
Here are a few questions you might ask to begin conversation with your first grader.
1. Can you tell me the name of a new friend at your pod?
2.Tell me about the book, "First Time Jitters".
3.Who is "Flipper"?
4.What is one learning tool you have?
5.Whose birthday did you celebrate and who came to sing?
6.Did someone lose a tooth?
7. What is your favorite Encore activity so far?
8. Can you sing one of the "Counting Songs"?

Welcome Dolphin Families!

This blog will share the many happenings of our 1F (Dolphin classroom). As soon as I receive all the permission/paperwork back, I will be able to post pictures of our beginning activities. I am looking forward to a great year together!  Thank you!
